Elementary Education Major - Early Childhood Birth-Grade 3 Special Education Concentration
ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MAJOR
The UW-Superior Teacher Education program offers three tracks towards earning a Wisconsin teaching license in Elementary Education. Each concentration has specific coursework (Major and Minor) and other requirements to be eligible for licensure.
ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MAJOR - EARLY CHILDHOOD Special Education Birth-Grade 3 Concentration
UW-Superior education programs are approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to fulfill specific licensure requirements for the state of Wisconsin at the time of degree completion. Some requirements may unavoidably change as state requirements change; students should stay in close communication with their advisors throughout your program. If students seek licensure in a state other than Wisconsin, they should review the UW-Superior Institutional Certification Office web page for further information and assistance.
University Studies Requirement: Al students seeking an elementary education major must complete the university's University Studies requirements or the fulfillment of an AA, AS, BA, or BS degree from another institution that includes an environmental science course (BIOL 170 Biological Inquiry for Teachers Biological Inquiry for Teachers).
Elementary Education Major-Early Childhood Special Education Birth-Grade 3 Concentration
To be eligible for the Wisconsin B-Grade 3 early childhood special education teaching license, students must successfully complete the Elementary Education Major-Early Childhood Birth-Grade 3 Concentration, the Early Childhood Minor, the Special Education minor and Student Teaching for all license areas. A grade of C must be earned in all major and minor courses (except for B requirements in T ED 200 Introduction to Education Introduction to Education and the pass requirement in T ED 100 Orientation to Teacher Education Orientation to Teacher Education). These licenses also require a passing score on the approved pedagogical knowledge assessment, the approved content knowledge assessment, and the approved Wisconsin Foundation of Reading Test (FoRT) or FoRT alternative assessment.
