Interdisciplinary Studies (Non-Comprehensive) Major
Requirements
35 credits
Major Requirements
This major is available to on-campus students and online students.
The student must work with their academic advisor and the Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) Coordinator to develop the Interdisciplinary Student major (non-comprehensive) plan and application.
For the purpose of this major, a 'discipline' or 'discipline area' is either courses with the same prefix OR courses from multiple prefixes that are thematically-tied (the thematic relationship between multiple courses would need explanation in the student program plan narrative).
- At least 2 different discipline areas are included in the program plan.
- At least 6 credits and no more than 24 credits are included in each of the two discipline areas.
- Additional discipline areas and courses may be included as long as the conditions above are met and the additional courses thematically fit with the proposed degree.
- At least 18 credits in courses numbered 300 or higher.
- Completion of IDS 495 Senior Year Experience.
- Completion of at least 43 credits prior to submitting the IDS application.
- Student must declare a minor or second major in a different discipline. The same courses cannot be used to meet the requirements of both the Interdisciplinary Studies major and the minor or second major.
- Student must submit (and have approved) an Interdisciplinary Studies major (non-comprehensive) plan application.
