Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Indigenous Culture Resource Center

The Indigenous Culture Resource Center, located on the first floor of Swenson Hall (Swenson 1030), is a gathering place and resource center for intercultural learning, exchange, and support with an emphasis around First Nations and Indigenous lifeways and experiences. The center also provides opportunities for all people to engage in an inclusive environment which fosters visibility, awareness and leadership through an Indigenous lens.

The center serves as liaisons between campus and the greater community to support the local Indigenous populations, raise awareness and visibility of Indigenous cultures, and create a shared understanding of Indigenous worldviews.

Collaboratively, the ICRC and the Native Nations Student Organization work with other departments on campus to provide various programs and events centered around Indigenous cultures and languages.  (The university also provides a minor in Indigenous Studies.)

Gender Equity Resource Center (GERC)

The Gender Equity Resource Center (GERC), located in Swenson Hall 1031, serves as both a Women’s and LGBTQ2+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, TwoSpirit) resource center. Our staff work to empower and support individuals of all genders and sexual identities through education, programs, and communal connections.

The GERC frequently collaborates with other departments and student organizations on campus and provides an inclusive environment within our center for students, staff, and faculty to learn about and further explore aspects of gender and sexuality. Through our services and programs, our staff provides resources, awareness, and advocacy on topics related to gender equity, sexuality and sexual health, women's experiences, men and masculinity, and LGBTQ2+ identities.

Office of Intercultural Student Success

The Office of Intercultural Student Success (ISS) is dedicated to the academic and social success of African American, American Indian, Asian American, and Hispanic/Latino and International students while fostering a climate of respect for all people and cultures. The staff in ISS want students to have help with whatever needs arise; a home away from home; a broadening of worldviews; experience with people and cultures other than their own.

Programs and Services

The Office of Intercultural Student Success is proud to sponsor programs and events that enrich and honor the lives of not only American Indian, Asian American, African American, and Hispanic/Latino American and International students, but the campus community as a whole. ISS programs and events help students make important connections within the campus community, gain leadership skills, learn about diverse cultures and issues, and more.

The William 'Pope' Wright Jr. Student Center is located at Old Main, Room 232. It is a great place for students to study, to hold meetings, receptions, socials, guest lecture, presentations, and so forth.
